Harper goes fast from the time she wakes up in the morning until naptime then speeds through the afternoon and evening until her head hits the pillow and she is out at night. She’s usually the first one to go to sleep at night and most days is the first to wake up in the morning and from nap. Every morning I’m greeted with her initial cry and “Hi, Mama”. She loves to crawl into bed and snuggle with her mommy and daddy in the morning. Her crying before and after naptime is getting better thanks to some good ‘ol peer pressure from her siblings. She started talking about her “sissy” and crying and now we talk to her about Harper crying when she wakes up. “Sissy no cry” and “Harper no cry” are some familiar phrases in our home.
Harper knows no strangers. She’s definitely a people person befriending adults and children. She always makes sure that her sissy and Hays are involved with what she is doing. She loves her daddy and when he’s at work, she will ask me at least 20 times during the day “Where’s my daddy?” The same goes for mommy but she doesn’t escape everyday. Whenever she sees you again it’s always the same greeting “ Hi Daddy, I miss” Sometimes I even get an “I miss” greeting after she’s been playing for 20 minutes in the playroom.
Harper is our super sensitive child. It doesn’t take much for her to get her feelings hurt and the crying and tears are very soon to follow. On the flip side she has a mean look and her tongue sticks out. Harper becomes a “little devil” when the tongue comes out and she lashes out at whoever is in the line of fire. Her favorite modes of attack are pinching, pulling hair and hitting.
Harper doesn’t have a paci or favorite blankie like her sister and brother. About every two months, she usually befriends a doll or stuffed animal. It all started with a pink cat almost a year ago. Today her favorite is her doll “Sue”, who is two, and her milk bottle and blanket. The blanket can be one of three and we have two milk bottles just in case it gets lost during the day. The doll definitely beats the Halloween pumpkin bear that she carried around for two months or the Santa Claus that she had for a couple weeks.
With another six months has come an ever-expanding vocabulary. Harper loves to talk- non-stop- most the time we still don’t know what she says but with time so will her words. Mindi, our speech therapist, said that Harper probably wouldn’t qualify for services when they do her evaluation this month.
I'm off to read what I wrote about Harper six months ago. I can't wait to read about how much she has changed. I’ll post something about Hays and Hadlee in the coming weeks.
